Just for a minute. I actually have a night at home tonight, so I'm grabbing the opportunity to blog before I head off to bed (blessedly, much earlier than I've been accustomed to since the weeks before we took over the property for the store). The deficit is catching up wtih me. This morning I left a message on Kevin's cell phone that made no sense at all. I don't think there was a complete sentence anywhere in it.
The good news is that the store is doing well. The computer system is still not running the way we want it to, but we have a reliable and trustworthy I.T. guy now who is going to make all our problems go away. I've hired some spectacular staff (and a few more friendly faces wil join us soon) and there's more stuff coming in the door every day that can't hit the floor until the inventory system is working smoothly. Then watch out! It'll be another explosion.
Meanwhile, I've had lots of lovely visitors. Lots of readers stopping in and today Jan Hurwitz of Knitting Arts in Saratoga came by to wish us well. So did Jordana! How cool to put a face to the name.
I'm off to Maryland Sheep and Wool on Friday with Lolly and Joy. The three of us are flying together from Oakland and plan to get lots of knitting done on the plane. Yes, I actually get to sit and knit with no one asking anything more complicated than, "What can I get you to drink?" or "Would you like some more peanuts?"
There is knitting to report, but black Rowan Cotton Tape doesn't show up very well in pictures. Ok, enforcing bedtime on myself. Thank you all for your kind comments, visits and loving support! More soon!
Hi, Nathania! It was lovely to meet you in the store today. It's absolutely gorgeous, and I can't wait to come back. Congrats!

Hi, Nathania,
I stopped by CommunKNITy on Friday when it opened and loved it! Nice work. The atmosphere is really great, I love the living room and there is so much wonderful yarn. I bought some yarn for a Mother's Day scarf gift (nothing like last minute knitting). I'll definitely be back to make more yarn purchases. Congratulations and best of luck!

Hi, Nathania,
I've been reading your blog and am so excited for you about your store! I only wish I still lived in San Jose area so I could visit. I now live in Texas. Anyway, I am going to Italy this summer and I read your post from Nov. 22, 2004 about your trip. I got some great info about the yarn shops you visited but I have a question. Can you tell me what kind of camera you used on your trip. The photos are breathtaking!
TIA, Tena

Hi Nathania! It was so nice to meet you today and I just wanted to say good luck again - it's such a wonderful store! Have a great trip to Maryland and I'll try to make it into the store when I'm back in SJ in June.
:-) amy from the netherlands
PS - Did I see on the website that there's going to be an online store eventually? cool beans!

I've been very slack on my blog reading and was amazed to read another blogger comment about a wonderful new store in the bay area, only to figure out it was you! Huge congratulations. The bumps will smooth soon enough. Anyway, knitters are a pretty forgiving bunch, especially in light of so much gorgeous yarn. Very deep stocklist you've got there! And a fantastic space with natural light! I might just have to plan a SF getaway soon...
Have fun in Maryland.

I'm so happy for you and the knitting community that the store is doing well, but most of all right now I'm glad you'll get a chance to relax this weekend and enjoy some time all for YOU! Have a fabulous time!

Glad you're getting some you-time - have fun as MDS&W!!

The store looks amazing...the most amazing thing, besides all of the obviously beautiful yarn and fixtures is the amount of SPACE, the luxury of SPACE. I wish you enormous success with the endeavor and after reading several Bay Area blogs lately, I just wonder if the Oakland Airport is going to be filled with a lot of bleary-eyed knitters, heading for Maryland, on Friday morning at the Crack O' Dawn. Yeah, the DH and I will be there as well. Do you think that the planet will tip off of its axis with so many knitters and spinners in one place?

I will be at MS&W on Saturday, and possibly Sunday too - maybe we can meet up! I'd love to see you again! :)
Congrats on the store doing so well. All of your hard work is paying off!

What flight are you on? Which airport are you landing at? Oh, wouldn't it be fun to be on the same one?
