Preparations at the shop are picking up speed. We're getting down to detail work now, where before we were using broad strokes. The back room is full to bursting with yarn. Poor James delivered 24 boxes on Friday. He'd haul a load to the back of the store then head back to the truck. I kept asking, "That's it, right?" "No," he'd reply. "There's lots more." We got so many boxes, in fact, that I didn't even open most of them. Even knowing that 7 of them were Manos del Uruguay (ok, I did open one and walked around carrying a bundle like it was a baby), 14 were from Rowan and the other three from Skacel. I was afraid that if I opened them it'd be like opening one of those gag cans of peanuts, the kind with the spring-loaded snakes compressed inside them. We just aren't ready for the yarn explosion yet. Hopefully, though, the "Yarn Room", as I've taken to calling it will be finished by tomorrow. Then we need to inventory everything and start placing it on shelves.
Yesterday afternoon Lolly and her sweet husband Johnathon came down for a store tour and then came over to our place for a very low-key evening of food, wine and The Princess Bride, which is a perennial favorite in both our houses. This morning I slept in (until 9:30, can you believe it?) and then Kevin and Karin brought me tea and kissed me awake. The girls and I spent some time at the library, they browsing for books, I knitting while reading with the sun on my back. I took a little cat nap there in the sun. Now they're at the park and I've dug out the Goddess Tank, still unfinished from last summer and I'm loving the Calmer that I chose. Super soft and the fabric it makes is just luscious. I think I can have it finished in time to wear it on Friday when the photographer comes. Hope your weekend was a happy one!
Our favorite film, too!
"As you wish..." is something DH and I say to each other at special times.
"My name is..." will always elicit a flourish of an imaginary foil and the rest of the speech.
Oh, baby yarn. I can just see you in a nurse uniform checking on all the bins, I mean incubators, of skeins!

Love the updates! I can totally relate to carrying yarn like it's a baby.
We just showed our girls the Princess Bride over Christmas, they liked it, but got completely scared when Wesley is killed. We'll just have to try again in a few years!
Have fun this week, and remember to take a deep breath every now and again.

Ah, totally love Princess Bride... after all of these years, I think I still remember it all by heart! :)
Nathania, I love your store updates! I know you are so busy with all of it--and it amazes me that you have time to blog! I just can't wait to meet you at Sheep & Wool...
Very soon!
Take care, sweetie! xo
