No need to wonder who. My Rockin' Sock Club package arrived yesterday and Kevin delivered it to me at the shop. It just so happened that I was on the phone with Tina Newton at the time, so she got to open in with me. I was in raptures. First of all, Mustang Sally is a perfect color for me. It's a deep complex mix of red and burgundy and Sivia Harding's pattern is gorgeous.
But it was the Rare Gem included as a bonus skein that really did me in. Tina handpicked this one, knowing that it was so totally my colors. The rose, sage, plum tones literally make my heart sing. I oh'ed and ah'ed and crooned and Tina just laughed. They have been so incredibly generous with the club and in nurturing me and Purlescence. I feel enormous gratitude and such admiration for what Tina, Kaci and their crew have accomplished. Thanks, ladies! And a big thank you to Kevin for hand delivering it!
Speaking of Kevin, now that he's gifted it I can show you what he's been working on. His grandmother celebrated her 75th birthday last weekend and Kevin spent the last few weeks working on the Litla Dimun Shawl from Folk Shawls for her. He finished it on Wednesday night and with a little kitchenering help from yours truly had it all ready to gift before driving to Humboldt County for her birthday party. Isn't he just the best grandson ever?
He's the best husband too. You may recall that I was anticipating spending the whole weekend alone. I received a call from him on Sunday evening while at the annual holiday party hosted by our friend Kevin Chung. I assumed it was just a check in call and didn't even blink when the doorbell rang. The door opened and there was my husband with a gigantic grin on his face and I flew into his arms, so happy that he was home.
Last night we took our friend Cari along with us while we carolled in downtown San Jose with members of the Choral Project. There were a lot of us this year, though the park seemed noisier and there were fewer people than we sang for last year. Still we had a great time and went to Jack and Johnathon's afterward for cocoa, hot cider and nibbles. Tonight we're having dinner at The Loft Bar and Bistro downtown as a fundraiser for The Choral Project. If you're around, come and join us!
