The Nyquil only lasted until about 4:30am, so I'm up way earlier than usual. A perfect time to blog!
I finally finished the Moonstone Socks yesterday. They'd been near finished for a couple of days, but I hadn't taken the time to sit down and kitchener the toe of the second sock. This was pretty much just a plain vanilla sock, knit from the top down on 3.25mm needles (the manufacturer suggests 3.5mm). After trying a 2x2 rib I opted for a 3x1 instead, because I really like the look of it. I used a standard slip stitch heel. They're very squishy and comfy and I love the interplay of the purple and soft cocoa with a subtle hint of sage green. The Chasing Rainbows Dyeworks Kona is heavier than most of the sock yarn in my stash and it will be interesting to see how often these socks come up in the wardrobe rotation. All in all, very pleased with the way they turned out.
Oh, but that's not all! This is the FO I hinted about yesterday. Glitter from Rowan Magazine 30 in Kid Classic and Lurex Shimmer. I've wanted to make this top since the magazine was first released lo these many years ago. Last year I started it with a mind to make this my holiday top, but got derailed by tendonitis. I found the completed back in my UFO basket the other day and decided to revive it with hopes of wearing it this holiday season. It hardly took any time at all. Kid Classic has the same fuzzy halo as Kid Silk Haze (in fact, I'm pretty sure it's just a 2 ply wool plied with a strand of KSH) and the Lurex Shimmer adds a little bit of sparkle. Unfortunately the picture is crap. It was late and I wasn't in a very model-y mood. Plus, the camera has some weird electrical problems, hence the strange vertical striping. Still, it's fuzzy and soft and I can't wait to wear this to Britta's party on Friday!
Cutaway is coming along. I cast on the Left Front yesterday and knit until I couldn't stand black stockingette any more. Eventually I had to put it down and cast on the back of the Nantucket Jacket from the Winter IK in Chasing Rainbows Kid Merino that I bought last year at Rhinebeck. It's lurvely. Hope your knitting is as happy as mine!
